Local ideas, local skills, local solutions

Summer Activities 2017

Once again the Partnership invested in local families by providing  five weeks of safe, interesting and exciting activities for children of various ages right on our door-step and FREE OF CHARGE .

These included fun filled Family Pizza Picnics for families and their children up to 11 years which are being held on the Green in Usmere Rd and on the lawn between the Horsefair flats, with a new venue this year of St Ambrose’s Community Garden. This new venue makes use of a lovely community space that has been developed with the help of a Big Local DY10 Grant.

Logistic support was again provided by Ben Bendall of Friends of Springfield Park, who also helped out by  loaning tables and other furniture for the picnics. Home Start will again be providing their wonderful volunteers to help with serving the food alongside 10-32/Bernardos. 10-32 also managed to secure much of the food and drinks that was distributed free at the picnics, thanks to the local supermarkets: Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s.

The weather was not kind to us but that didn’t stop over 1400 children attending the various activities.

Our new ‘Family Engagement’ event – THE BIG PICNIC was a huge success! With some 150 free burgers, ice cream and drinks being distributed to the children who had previously attended the Pizza Picnics. All the agencies attending were please with the opportunity to meet the local families and share their valuable information.

The agencies attending the Big Picnic included:
Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue,
West Mercia Police
Safer Wyre Forest
Community Housing
Vestia Community Trust,
Building Better Opportunities
Living Well
Nova Training
Swanswell
Home Start
10-32/Bernardos

A really big THANK YOU to all of you who helped make our Summer 2017 Activities a huge success!
